Job summary

Southern Industrial is seeking Civil Helpers for a Wilmington, NC project. Hires includes benefits terms after 3 months. Responsibilities include forming, reinforcing, and finishing concrete, along with site safety and material handling.

The role requires strong communication, compliance with SIC safety standards, and willingness to travel as needed. This is a hands-on construction position on-site in a dynamic industrial setting.

Qualifications

• Skilled in both written and verbal communication.
• Complete all Safety and general job training as required by SIC.
• Observe SIC and Customer safety and quality processes and procedures at all times.

Responsibilities

• Set forms.
• Tie rebar.
• Spread concrete to specified depth and workable consistency, using float to bring water to surface and produce soft topping.
• Level, smooth, and shape surfaces of freshly poured concrete, using straightedge and float or power screed.
• Finish concrete surfaces, using power trowel, or wets and rubs concrete with abrasive stone to impart finish.
• Remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces, using power grinder or chisel and hammer, and patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound.
• Mold expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge.
• Produce rough concrete surface, using broom.
• Mix cement, using hoe or concrete-mixing machine.
• Direct sub grade work, mixing of concrete, and setting of forms.
• Follow set procedures and standards.
• Detect, recognize and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.
• Assist with loading, unloading and transporting material.
• Lift and carry objects of varying weights.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Significant travel may be required.
• Performs other duties as required.
