Job description

Bartlett Cocke General Contractors in Austin, TX is seeking a skilled and experienced Concrete Carpenter to join our team. As a Concrete Carpenter, you will play a pivotal role in crafting and assembling formwork and installing embedded items for concrete structures. Your proficiency in carpentry, attention to detail, and commitment to safety will contribute to the successful completion of various construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Formwork Construction: Craft and construct formwork based on project specifications, blueprints, and design plans. This requires experience using wooden and metal formwork materials.

  • Layout and Measurement: Accurately measure, mark, and lay out layout lines, ensuring proper dimensions and alignment of formwork components to achieve the desired shape and size for the concrete structure.

  • Material Selection and Preparation: Select suitable materials such as plywood, lumber, and steel for formwork construction. Cut, shape, and assemble these materials to create intricate formwork components.

  • Carpentry Skills: Utilize your carpentry expertise to skillfully construct formwork, ensuring structural integrity, precise angles, and proper connections to achieve the desired form.

  • Concrete Pouring Assistance: Collaborate with the concrete placement team to ensure the proper pouring and placement of concrete into the formwork, including proper compaction and elimination of air pockets.

  • Form Stripping and Removal: Safely and systematically disassemble formwork after the concrete has cured, preserving the quality of the concrete surface. Dispose of formwork materials responsibly.

  • Quality Control: Regularly inspect formwork for defects, proper alignment, and adherence to specifications. Make necessary adjustments to maintain the accuracy and quality of the formwork.

  • Safety Adherence: Follow all safety regulations, guidelines, and protocols to maintain a secure work environment. Keep the work area organized and hazard-free.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other construction team members, including form setters, concrete finishers, and project managers, to ensure seamless project progression and successful project outcomes.

  • Tool Maintenance: Maintain and care for carpentry tools and equipment used in formwork construction. Report any equipment malfunctions promptly.

  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any challenges encountered during the formwork carpentry process.


Qualifications:



  • Proven experience as a Concrete Formwork Carpenter in construction projects.

  • Strong knowledge of formwork materials, carpentry techniques, and industry best practices.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction blueprints and design plans.

  • Exceptional measurement skills, including accurate calculations and visualization of three-dimensional shapes.

  • Expertise in using a wide range of hand and power tools for carpentry work.

  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy materials and work in varying weather conditions.

  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality carpentry work.

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a team.

  • Consistent adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
