Overview

TITLE: Concessions Manager

LOCATION: Bennett School District

REPORTS TO: Superintendent/Activities Director/School Administration

DATE AVAILABLE: 2025-2026 School Year

SUMMARY

The Concessions Manager is a vital role that ensures a positive experience for our students, families, and community members at various school events. The Concessions Manager will be responsible for managing concessions at all middle school and high school home sporting events and special events, upon request. The role requires excellent multitasking and prioritization skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure. Attention to detail and maintaining high standards are paramount to success in this position. Dedication to customer satisfaction and efficient operations will contribute to the success of athletic events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Inventory Management: Plan, purchase, and manage inventory of concession items (food, beverages, supplies) to meet demand and minimize waste. Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile stock. Identify popular items and suggest new offerings to enhance sales.
  • Staffing and Supervision: Supervise student and/or volunteer staff for concession stands. Create work schedules and assign duties for each event. Provide clear direction and foster a positive, collaborative work environment. Ensure all staff adhere to health, safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Sales and Operations: Oversee the setup, operation, and breakdown of concession stands for all assigned events. Manage cash handling procedures, including opening and closing tills, and ensuring accuracy. Implement effective sales strategies to maximize revenue. Ensure high standards of customer service and address any customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Cleanliness and Compliance: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary concession area before, during, and after events. Ensure compliance with all local health department regulations and school policies. Properly store and dispose of food items and waste.
  • Financial tracking and Reporting: Track all sales, expenses, and inventory data accurately. Work with the Superintendent/Activities Director to establish sales targets and monitor performance against these targets.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with the Activities Director, school administration, event organizers, and suppliers. Provide regular updates on concession performance and needs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as dictated by school event schedules.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must hold a Food Production Manager Certification as required by the local Health Department.
  • Must be able to pass a background check required by Bennett School District 29J.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in food service, retail management, or a related field, with demonstrated supervisory responsibilities. A positive attitude and a passion for supporting school activities.
  • Proven ability to manage inventory, handle cash, and track financial data accurately.
  • Experience working with student volunteers or young staff.
  • Knowledge of basic food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Proactive problem-solver with a strong attention to detail.
WORKING CONDITIONS

The Concessions Manager will primarily work in a school concession stand environment, which may include exposure to heat from cooking equipment, cold from refrigeration units, and varying noise levels. The role requires flexibility to work during school events, which often occur outside of regular school hours, including evenings and weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through speech and hearing.
  • Ability to supervise students in various settings.
  • Ability to use technology for communication and documentation.
EQUIPMENT USED
  • POS terminals, cash register/IPAD, or other technology.
  • Popcorn machine, hot dog rollers, cheese dispensers, grills, ovens, microwave, warmers and other food prep equipment.
