PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position was developed to operate a concessions stand, providing a family friendly atmosphere. The position will extend the Y’s mission by creating a positive atmosphere where everyone is respected and welcomed and builds relationships with team members and members alike.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

General Operations

  • Greet customers in a friendly and welcoming manner.
  • Take food and beverage orders accurately.
  • Prepare and serve food items such as popcorn, hot dogs, nachos, and beverages.
  • Operate cash registers and handle monetary transactions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the concessions area, including restocking supplies.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Assist with inventory management and product restocking.
  • Provide excellent customer service and resolve guest issues promptly.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Previous customer service or food service experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math and money-handling skills.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
WORK SCHEDULE:Work schedules may vary per the Y’s hours of operation. Most Y’s are open 7 days a week:Mon. – Fri. 5:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.Sat. 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.Sun. 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.Overtime, evenings, and weekend work will be required depending on the business need.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to see the close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Standing for long periods.
  • Works outside in 80-90+ degree temperatures for a maximum of 20-60 minutes at a time several times during a shift.
  • Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position which includes walking, standing, bending, reaching frequently, as well as correctly demonstrating the proper form of exercises.
