The Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC) is seeking a Concession Event Cook for hockey games and DECC events. You will prepare concession foods and work in a fast-paced environment during weekend/evening shifts, supporting event operations.
Ideally you have food service experience and are comfortable operating grills, fryers, and ovens. The role emphasizes teamwork, flexibility, and safety in a dynamic venue setting.

Concession Event Cooks will be responsible for cooking in a fast-paced working environment for UMD Hockey games that take place on Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as other DECC events that take place throughout the year.
The Concession Event Cook position is a part-time position in our Concessions Department. The position is a weekend/evening event-based cooking position. Shifts per week will vary based on DECC event needs, availability for UMD Men’s Hockey games are essential. Shifts are flexible, and other shift opportunities will be available as needed.
Event Cook A DECC t-shirt will be provided by the DECC. Jeans (no holes) and proper sneakers preferable non-slip/closed toe shoes are acceptable.
The majority of work will be performed indoors; some events will be held outdoors in different seasons. Many of the work areas will fluctuate from moderate to loud noise levels. The temperature in the work areas can fluctuate from extremely hot and humid (80-90 degrees) to cold, such as outdoor winter weather in freezing temperatures.
This position will require someone that is able to stand on their feet for many hours at a time, moving quickly to different places in the facility based on event needs. Often, multiple events are taking place at the same time, and there will be a lot of walking to the different event spaces. The employee will need to use their hands frequently, and be able to see, hear, and speak often. This position will require bending and maneuvering, and the ability to move and lift to 50 pounds at times.
The DECC uses USCIS Form I-9 to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment. On the form, an employee must attest to his or her employment authorization. The employee is required to present the DECC with acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorization at the time of hire. The DECC will examine the employment eligibility and identity document(s). The list of acceptable documents can be provided by Human Resources.
This position is at will. This means if you are offered the position and accept, your employment with the DECC is for an indefinite period of time and it is subject to termination by you or the DECC, with or without cause, with or without notice, and at any time. Nothing in this job description or any other policy of the DECC shall be interpreted to be in conflict with or to eliminate or modify in any way, the at will employment status of this position.
The at will employment status of an employee of the DECC may be modified only in a written employment agreement with that employee which is signed by the Executive Director or the Chair of the DECC Board of Directors.
