An indie production studio seeks a talented Concept Artist for their animated series, 'Levels of Hell.' In this role, you'll develop the visual direction, collaborate closely with the director, and potentially transition to an Art Director position. Ideal candidates should have significant experience in animation and a strong artistic voice.
We are looking for a Concept Artistfor a series pilot set in Hell. Sounds like your bag? Then do read on!
We are: An independent production studio whose founders have a combined 30+ years of experience in live action, making their first foray into the world of animation. We have been on sets all around the world with some of the biggest names both in front and behind the camera, and we're looking to bring this experience to the studio.
The project: Levels of Hell is an episodic animated dark comedy series that will revolve around the everyday chaos and quests of a gamified, multi-level version of hell. Jeff, our protagonist, will constantly be thrown into increasingly absurd predicaments as he’s surrounded by people he thought he’d never see again.
We are in the final stages of pilot script and series bible development and we are looking to bring on a talented artist to help us create the visual identity of the show. With this being an indie project (for the time being), we will most likely be rolling the Concept Artist and Art Director roles into one, with a combined set of responsibilities. However we believe this is a valuable opportunity in having a more prominent voice within the project. If we do get a series commission, we will be building a team around YOU, and this will become a long term contract.
This post is initially for the role of Concept Artist to develop a visual direction, with the ideal candidate moving on to an Art Director role to develop the definitive look of the series and to help create the pilot episode (~22 minutes).
You are: A brilliant artist who has a proven track record of producing artwork at a professional level, both as an individual, and also as a team leader. You are a strong collaborator who's able to bring their own creativity into the storytelling and help us build our visual identity. You will have at least 5 years of experience in the industry and be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of animation workflows. Having worked on larger scale projects within a studio setting is a definite plus. If you can demonstrate the above but lack the years of experience, please still apply. As we might have a role for you further down the line.
We are open to your unique style and visual language, but just to give an idea of the space we're aiming for, we have been looking at elements of Metalocalypse, Mike Tyson Mysteries and Aqua Teen Hunger Force when discussing our look. Bit of a broad spectrum, but hopefully this gives you an idea if your work would match the style we're looking for.
Job Tasks:
This is at least a Mid-Level role, but we are ideally looking for a Senior, who can bring solid industry experience to the table. We will work together to come up with a realistic timeline and final budget.
To apply, please send your CV and portfolio, along with a short cover letter explaining why you’d be the perfect candidate over to info@abandoned-factory.com
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to produce sketches of 2x moments from the pilot.
