Placements24 in Welkom is seeking a visionary Concept Artist to envision and create stunning visual assets for upcoming game projects. You will translate scripts into compelling concepts for characters, environments, props, and key story moments, guiding the overall art direction and mood.

Work closely with art directors, game designers, and 3D modelers to iterate on designs, maintain visual consistency, and explore styles that best fit project requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong portfolio in concept art for entertainment.
• Proficiency in Photoshop or Procreate or similar.
• Solid understanding of composition, color, lighting, anatomy and perspective.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a visionary Concept Artist to envision and create stunning visual assets for their upcoming projects in Welkom. This role is crucial in establishing the visual direction, mood, and style of our games and interactive experiences. You will translate ideas and scripts into compelling visual representations of characters, environments, props, and key story moments. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional artistic talent, a strong understanding of design principles, and the ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, contributing to a cohesive and visually impactful final product within a collaborative creative studio.

Key Responsibilities

• Create high-quality concept art for characters, environments, props, and key visual moments.


• Develop mood boards, style guides, and presentation art to establish and communicate the visual direction.


• Collaborate closely with art directors, game designers, and 3D modelers to iterate on designs and ensure visual consistency.


• Explore various artistic styles and techniques to find the most effective visual solutions for project requirements.


• Provide detailed visual references for the production team to use in asset creation.


• Maintain an organized library of concept art and design documentation.

Requirements

• A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional drawing, painting, and digital art skills, with a focus on concept art for entertainment.


• Proficiency in industry-standard digital art software such as Adobe Photoshop, Procreate, or similar.


• Solid understanding of composition, color theory, lighting, anatomy, and perspective.


• Ability to work efficiently under deadlines and adapt to different artistic styles.


• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate visual ideas clearly.


• Experience in 3D modeling software or understanding of 3D workflows is a plus for this role in Welkom.
