Engineer II, Systems is responsible for managing and optimizing the organization's IT infrastructure. Responsibilities
Performance Monitoring and Optimization

The Engineer monitors system performance metrics, analyzes data to identify bottlenecks, and implements solutions to enhance system efficiency. This includes configuring system settings, conducting regular performance assessments, and utilizing diagnostic tools to troubleshoot issues. The role also involves collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure optimal resource allocation and scalability of systems.

Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution

The Engineer diagnoses and resolves technical issues related to system performance, network connectivity, and application functionality. This includes analyzing logs, performing root cause analysis, and implementing solutions to prevent future occurrences. The Engineer ensures timely resolution of incidents and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) and documents troubleshooting steps and resolutions in the knowledge base for future reference.

System Upgrades

Responsible for planning and executing upgrade procedures, testing new systems, and documenting changes. Ensures that compatibility and performance standards are met and troubleshoots any issues that arise during the upgrade process.

Server Maintenance and Upgrades

Performs regular maintenance on servers, including applying updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure optimal performance and security. Monitors server health, troubleshoots issues, and documents changes. Collaborates with other IT teams to schedule downtime effectively.

Manages and maintains system configurations across various platforms, deploying, monitoring, and updating software and hardware configurations. Creates and maintains documentation for configuration management processes, conducts regular configuration audits, and implements changes as needed to align with organizational standards.

Participates in managing and maintaining network infrastructure, troubleshooting connectivity issues, assisting in implementing security protocols, and ensuring optimal performance of network services. Conducts regular audits and collaborates with other teams to support system integration and upgrades.

Documentation of System Processes

Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation of system processes, configurations, and procedures. Develops detailed guides for installations, updates, troubleshooting steps, and best practices. Regularly reviews and updates documentation to reflect changes.

Automation of Routine Tasks

Identifies repetitive tasks within IT infrastructure and develops automation scripts to streamline processes. Uses tools such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash to create scripts that manage system updates, backups, and monitoring alerts. Implements automation solutions in cloud environments and documents all automated tasks.

Collaboration with Cross‑Functional Teams

Collaborates with developers, project managers, and other IT staff. Participates in meetings to discuss project requirements, provides technical insights, and ensures system architecture aligns with business needs.

Security Compliance and Management

Ensures all systems comply with internal and external security standards. Conducts regular audits, implements security policies, manages access controls, and responds to security incidents. Maintains documentation of compliance activities and collaborates with other teams to enhance security measures.

Education/Credentials

Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree
Major: Computer Engineering, Computer Science

Job‑Related Experience

Customarily has at least 5 years of experience in systems engineering of Microsoft Windows Server OS.

Job‑Related Skills/Competencies
  • Hands‑on experience managing Active Directory, including implementing group policies, managing sites and services, managing DNS records; experience with AD FS is a plus.
  • Experience administering Linux OS.
  • Strong experience managing Microsoft 365 tenants, including Entra ID, Exchange, Intune, Teams, and M365 Apps.
  • Hands‑on experience managing Hybrid Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange environments.
  • Experience administering Citrix DaaS, including creating machine catalogs and delivery groups, building vDisks, and managing Storefront servers.
  • Experience writing scripts using PowerShell, Python, Bash or other scripting languages.
  • Experience operating and managing monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, PRTG, SolarWinds, or others.

Wintel Server Administration

Must be proficient in installing, configuring, and administering Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS services. Responsible for troubleshooting server issues, applying security patches, and ensuring regular system backups. Monitoring performance and optimizing resources to ensure high availability and reliability.

Linux Server Administration

Must have working knowledge for managing and maintaining Linux servers, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. Responsibilities include monitoring system performance, applying security patches, managing user accounts, performing data backups, and automating tasks using shell scripting.

Network Configuration and Management

Responsible for managing and troubleshooting network connectivity for servers, storage units, Cloud compute resources, etc. Includes implementing security protocols, monitoring performance, ensuring connectivity, and documenting network configurations and changes.

Virtualization Technologies

Must possess expertise in deploying, configuring, and managing virtualization technologies such as VMware and Citrix. Includes creating and maintaining virtual machines, optimizing resource allocation, ensuring high availability, and implementing backup and disaster recovery solutions.

Cloud Services Management

Proficient in administering and optimizing cloud services such as Microsoft 365, Azure, and AWS. Includes provisioning resources, configuring environments, ensuring performance and security, monitoring infrastructure, implementing automation scripts, and collaborating with development teams.

Backup and Recovery Solutions

Responsible for implementing, managing, and optimizing backup and recovery solutions across systems. Configures backup schedules, ensures data integrity, performs regular test restores, troubleshoots issues, and documents procedures. Provides training to team members on best practices.

Security Best Practices and Compliance Standards

Follows security best practices across all systems and applications. Conducts regular security assessments, applies patches and updates, configures firewalls, manages access controls, and ensures compliance with industry standards such as ISO 27001 or NIST. Develops and documents security policies, monitors logs for suspicious activity, and responds to incidents promptly.

Monitoring Tools

Responsible for implementing, configuring, and maintaining monitoring tools such as Dynatrace and PRTG. Sets up alerts, analyzes logs, optimizes configurations, and ensures effective monitoring to prevent downtime.

Physical/Mental Requirements

The employee is continuously sitting for extended periods, walking, and occasionally standing.
