Amentum is seeking a Service Desk Specialist to deliver fast, comprehensive IT support to end users at Kennedy Space Center in Florida under the COMET contract. You will troubleshoot Windows 10/11, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, hardware, and help desk systems, using Teams, phone, email, and in person support.

The role requires a customer‑oriented, patient approach, strong communication, and the ability to handle multiple personalities.

The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

This position is a service desk Position to support various functions, including, provide fast and comprehensive technical assistance to the end users regarding, computer systems, hardware and/or software. Applicant must have good technical knowledge and be able to communicate effectively, be able to diagnose and understand problems and explain the solution. Be customer-oriented and patient and deal with a wide variety of personality types. Also, the position requires being able to drive a cargo van to deliver IT desktop equipment to different locations at KSC.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include supporting Windows 10/11, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, hardware, and help desk ticketing systems. The role involves providing technical support by phone, Microsoft Teams, email, and in person. The successful candidate will guide customers through troubleshooting and resolve issues promptly; document, track, investigate, and resolve issues promptly; follow up with customers; and maintain accurate status information.

Physical Requirements

Physical Requirement May be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting. Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other associated personal protective equipment. Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing. Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures. Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.

Work Environment

May be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex. Position may require individual to travel daily to different areas on site. Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, may be required to access various locations on the facility. Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary. All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.

Equipment and Machines

Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules. Variety of equipment used in testing.

Attendance

Full-time work hours. Position may require occasional overtime, including weekend work, depending on task. Must be dependable and punctual. Shift work may be required.

Other Essential Functions

Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication. Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.

Government Security Clearance

Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions. Government security clearance may be required in the future. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.

Compensation

Salary starts at $52,000. Final pay will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
