Job summary

Livonia Public Schools is seeking a Computer Technology teacher to deliver academic-focused instruction in a Shared Time Program, fostering student achievement in computer technology and robotics.   • Adapt curricular materials and instructional methods to develop engaging, relevant, sequential lessons and assignments that guide and challenge students.
  • Seek instructional technology resources and applications to enhance the students' educational experience and grow professionally.
  • Provide students with real-world application of technology in the areas of personal and business finance and development.
  • Provide individual and small group instruction to adapt curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual abilities, attitudes, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Communicate with parents, students, and school counselors through conferences and other means to discuss curriculum, assessments, and student progress.
  • Identify student needs and work collaboratively with other professional staff members in assessing and assisting students and developing curriculum with the ITSE standards.
  • Administer and monitor student assessments.

Job description

POSITION

Livonia Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified Computer Technology teacher for our Shared Time Program who will be able to develop and sustain academic-focused instruction for his/her students. The teacher will identify and implement best practices in instruction and student achievement. The teacher will motivate each student to acquire knowledge in computer technology and robotics.

DISTRICT OVERVIEW

Livonia Public Schools employs approximately 1,900 staff members, serving approximately 13,300 students pre-K � post secondary. There are 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, 1 career technical center, 1 early childhood center, and 1 vocational and transition center in the school district. The annual budget for Livonia Public Schools is $175 million, with a state funding of $9,608 per pupil.

  • Medical insurance, including prescription drug coverage:

  • The district's contribution is the maximum allowed by Michigan law.

  • Family coverage eligibility for employees working 30 hours or more per week.

  • Single coverage eligibility for employees working 20 hours but less than 30 per week.

  • Optional "cash in lieu" of medical insurance for those who qualify.

  • Dental, vision, and life insurance:

  • The district pays 100% of the premium for all employees who have family coverage at 30 hours/week and single coverage at 20 hours/week.

  • Long-term disability coverage:

  • The district pays 100% of the premium for employees working 20 hours or more per week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
  • A major in the subject area is preferred
  • Instructional knowledge of basic computer applications including MS Office, Google, and Lego Robotics

  • Demonstrated positive interpersonal relationships

  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide a safe and productive classroom environment.
  • Identify student needs and work collaboratively with other professional staff members in assessing and assisting students and developing curriculum with the ITSE standards.
  • Administer and monitor student assessments.
  • Execute other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by building administrator.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The work year, salary, and fringe benefits will be consistent with the current agreement between the Board of Education and the Livonia Education Association. This position will remain open minimally through August 21st, 2024 or until filled.
