Job summary

FedEx Supply Chain is seeking a Computer Technician V (EMR5) for a Thursday-Sunday shift from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM in Tennessee. The role entails tearing down and replacing parts, troubleshooting hardware/software across tablets, notebooks, desktops, and servers, and performing complex repairs with a focus on cost-effective solutions.

Responsibilities include diagnosing systems, operating RF equipment, mentoring teammates, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and SOPs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience.
  • A+ certification preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Run production in Burn area as needed.
  • Communicate with operators from other shifts.
  • Comply with OSHA and MSDS standards.
  • Diagnose systems and route to EMR for repair.
  • Move and store products using proper equipment; may pick and assemble orders for shipment.
  • Operate material handling equipment safely; may use RF equipment, forklifts, pallet jacks, and factory vehicles.
  • Cross-train teammates in all currently assigned roles.
  • Operate within SOPs and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
  • Participate in physical inventories.
  • Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking as needed.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new teammates.
  • Train Burn techs on failure types and routing procedures.
  • Perform cosmetic repairs on Notebooks, Desktops, and LFF systems.
  • Use Dell Password Reset utility to unlock BIOS password-protected units.
  • Evaluate and determine actions for systems failed in Burn.
  • Review etching graphics for defects and notify support teams.
  • Plug units into correct cabling and run appropriate software keys.
  • Physically install servers into designated cabinets as needed.
  • Distinguish between software and hardware issues; diagnose failures and determine repair path.
  • Select systems for repair based on Factory Aging objectives (FIFO).
  • Determine cost-effective repair paths and update system disposition.
  • Assess cosmetic findings in Final Inspection and determine routing to EMR.
  • Configure BOMs extensively for assigned Line of Business (LOB).
  • Prioritize Exchange and Customization Work Order Requests.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware/software issues across Notebooks, Desktops, and LFF systems.
  • Follow diagrams for server rack cabling and Work Orders for port assignments.
  • Log quality or process findings into appropriate databases.
  • Identify Engineering issues and provide detailed documentation for investigation.
  • Perform server configuration and initialization.
  • Support New Product launches as required.
  • Resolve advanced failures escalated by other technicians.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues across LFF, commercial, and consumer-grade systems.
  • Address and resolve production exceptions for designated LOB.
  • Complete daily repair logs.
  • Install and remove server testing hosts, cabling, and monitoring equipment.
  • Monitor Final Inspection and Boxing teammates for quality and performance; correct issues impacting Aging, Quality, and ULH metrics.
  • Monitor inventory aging to ensure timely system turnover.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and 5S on server cabinets.
  • Communicate effectively with Management, Engineers, and Quality Control to resolve complex failures.

Pay: $20.00/hour plus $1.50 Shift Differential
The Computer Technician V (EMR5) role applies to varied job functions within the facility, all requiring similar skill levels, responsibilities, and expectations. The EMR5 is responsible for tearing down and replacing parts in systems, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and determining the most cost-effective repair solutions for hardware and software issues across Tablets, Notebooks, Desktops, and Servers. Key job functions include EG1 GDO (Fallout), EG3 CFS (L3 Fallout, L4 Validation Tech), EG3 CONUS (Fallout), and CFS (L4 Cabling).
