Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Support break maintenance, reimaging devices, and building technology projects.
  • Test and troubleshoot copper/fiber infrastructure to ensure data, voice, video delivery.
  • Support online and computer-based testing during school events.

REPORTS TO
Director of IT Services Management
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The job of Computer Technician is to support all stakeholders using technology hardware and online digital resources to support classroom instruction and to assist the Department/Director of IT Services Management in the operation, setup, troubleshooting and routine maintenance of computer hardware, tablets, software, online digital resources, IP video, data network, media systems, telephone system, and other related equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in a job-related area preferred or equivalent certification(s) and experience.
  • CompTIA or equivalent A+ technical certification(s) preferred
  • Experience working successfully in a diverse, multicultural environment.

Performance Responsibilities
Technical Support & Systems Maintenance
  • Assists staff and students with assessing and resolving hardware and software issues, including hardware setup and configuration and installation of district software.
  • Utilizes the district help-desk ticketing system to log, respond to, and resolve staff and student technology issues.
  • Collaborates with the technology team to resolve system-level issues, including Internet outages, wireless access point issues, and district phone issues.
  • Assists with technology asset management for student devices using Mobile Device Management (MDM) systems.
  • Assists with school break maintenance projects, including reimaging devices, setting up new devices, and completing building technology projects.
  • Terminates, tests, and troubleshoots copper and fiber infrastructure to ensure reliable delivery of data, voice, and video services.
  • Supports online and computer-based testing during annual school-wide assessment events.
Technology Security, Compliance & Application Management
  • Adheres to and exercises district policies regarding computer use and data access to ensure compliance with district policies and departmental guidelines.
  • Preserves district-wide Internet safety and cybersecurity practices and communicates and trains staff on applicable practices.
  • Researches software applications and recommends standardized applications aligned with district technology goals.
Planning, Collaboration & Service Center Support
  • Participates in technology long-range planning with the Technology Department.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support the efficient and effective functioning of the Technology Service Center.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
260 day position
WORKING CONDITIONS
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
