Computer Systems Analyst

Location

National Institutes of Health (NIH), NCATS, Rockville, MD

Responsibilities
  • Work with internal stakeholders across research laboratories to determine needs and provide IT support for computerized systems supporting laboratory activities.
  • Install and configure scientific enterprise‑level applications on end‑user machines.
  • Ensure continual operability of chemistry‑related software applications by performing daily troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Provide end‑user support, including troubleshooting and assistance.
  • Act as primary contact with software vendors to verify licenses, upgrades, and patches are up to date and confirm compatibility with other software packages.
  • Participate in the ASPIRE program related to the extraction, curation, and management of electronic notebook data.
  • Serve as system administrator for PerkinElmer Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN), ChemBioOffice Enterprise (CBOE), CambridgeSoft ChemDraw, and Mestrelab Mnova Suite.
  • Work with subject‑matter experts on the selection, implementation, and support of software systems used by researchers.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to improve laboratory operations and instrument data analysis.
  • Coordinate with the IT support team, Informatics, and software vendors to ensure proper maintenance of applications and database servers, including patch installation, database migration, and system upgrades.
  • Resolve hardware and software issues pertaining to the functions of scientific applications.
  • Provide support and maintenance for front‑end and back‑end servers.
  • Deploy security measures to maintain the integrity of systems and data.
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Minimum ten (10) years of specialized experience.
