You will design, develop, and maintain high-performance C++ code across Linux, Windows, and macOS, build with CMake, and write Python and shell scripts to automate tests and validations in a federal environment. On-site work required for this role.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize C++ code across Linux, macOS, and Windows.
• Refactor legacy C/C++ to modern standards (C++11+).
• Develop and maintain build systems, primarily with CMake.
• Create and maintain comprehensive unit tests.
• Perform profiling and resource usage analysis to meet latency requirements.
• Ensure code quality and perform code reviews; manage dependencies and SBOM.
• Produce technical documentation for APIs, architectures, and build processes.

Description

NOTE: This opportunity is full-time employment position only (no 1099 or C2C engagements, or third parties or staffing agencies, please). The candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card), local to the Gaithersburg MD area, and available to be on-site full-time.

Daily Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and execute Python and shell scripts for automation, validations, and testing.
• Develop and execute comprehensive unit tests.
• Perform periodic performance profiling and resource usage analysis to ensure that C++ applications meet the latency requirements required for efficient use of federal systems.
• Design, develop, maintain, and execute high-performance, C++ code across Linux, macOS, and Windows, ensuring algorithmic parity across all target platforms.
• Refactor legacy code into modern C++ (i.e., C++11 or later).
• Design, develop, maintain and refactor build systems, primarily with CMake.
• Perform deep system debugging to resolve crashes and memory leaks.
• Perform resolution of linker warnings and errors, including symbol conflicts.
• Enforce and ensure code quality standards.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for application programming interface, system architectures, and build processes.
• Ensure all third-party dependencies are available offline, are vetted for security vulnerabilities, comply with federal software supply chain security standards, and generating and maintaining a Software Bill of Materials.
• Perform code reviews on contributed code and respond to code review issues that are received.

Requirements

• Must of a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card), as mandated by our government client.
• Must be able to complete/pass/hold at a minimum a Public Trust Investigation / background check.
• Must be local to the DMV area (no convenience travel).
• Must be available to be on-site full-time (M-F) in the Gaithersburg MD area.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of experience dedicated to C++ development including modernizing legacy C/C++, CMake, and experience across multi-platform environments (Linux, Windows, macOS).
• 5+ years of experience in scripting languages, Git source code management, and software development tools for debugging, code quality, and trouble shooting.
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving abilities.
• BS/BA degree in Computer Science.

Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. $130k - $140k.
