SRI's Information & Computing Sciences Division is tackling some of the world's most important challenges by creating cutting-edge technology solutions with revolutionary impact. Our researchers are redefining how humans interact with machines and each other through artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computing for real-world applications.

SRI's Computer Science Laboratory (CSL) develops advanced tools and methods in areas such as computer security, high-assurance systems, user interfaces, networking, robotics, biotechnology, and nanotechnology. We focus on the logical foundations of scalable systems beyond traditional testing or simulation, creating high-level tools for rigorous mechanical analysis.

We are seeking a Computer Scientist to conduct research and development in neuro-symbolic computing and intelligence, emphasizing the mathematical foundations of safe, robust, responsible, and ethical AI. The successful candidate will participate in projects on neuro-symbolic computing and intelligence for government and commercial clients.

This is a fully REMOTE position.


Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field with strong mathematical background
  • Solid publication record with at least 75 citations in the last 5 years and at least 3 papers in top AI/ML/PL venues such as NeurIPS, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICLR, AAAI, UAI, OOPSLA, and VLDB in the last 5 years
  • Deep expertise in an area synergistic with AI/ML, such as concentration measures, multimodal testbeds, mathematical foundations of programming languages, or low-energy computing
  • Experience running research experiments in frameworks like PyTorch and collaborative coding skills
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and conferences as needed
