Federal experience is not required. Experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or through Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
GS-4 Level:
You must have one year of general experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-3 grade level in the Federal service. General experience for this position includes:
- Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular competencies needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. This may be paid or non-paid experience;
OR
Two years of education above the high school level (education may have been obtained in an accredited junior college, college, university, business, secretarial or technical school).
OR
An equivalent amount of combined education and experience.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
GS-5 Level:
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular competencies needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. This may be paid or non-paid experience;
- Experience with operating functions primarily related to peripheral computer components such as mail machines and printers;
OR
A Bachelor's degree or four (4) years of education above high school in any field of study from an accredited college or university.
OR
An equivalent amount of combined education and experience.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
GS-6 Level:
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position must include:
- Experience operating peripheral computer equipment used in mailing operations, such as printers, inserters, and mail processing machines. Qualifying experience may also include production control or systems analysis related to peripheral equipment;
- Experience with standard, operational, and precedent rules and procedures to isolate and resolve common equipment and operating problems on multiprocessing mailing systems;
- Using operating systems configurations and equipment characteristics, utility software, and job control languages to activate, control, detect errors, and malfunctions;
- Following processing schedule and alerting of problems encountered on machinery and responding to inquiries related to them;
- Recording control totals for on-line output reports; preparing problem logs.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
GS-7 Level:
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position must include:
- Experience operating peripheral computer equipment used in mailing operations, such as printers, inserters, and mail processing machines and experience with production control or systems analysis related to peripheral equipment;
- Experience with standard, operational, and precedent rules and procedures to isolate and resolve common equipment and operating problems on multiprocessing mailing systems;
- Using operating systems configurations and equipment characteristics to activate, control, monitor processing of production workloads, detect errors, and malfunctions;
- Following processing schedule and alerting of problems encountered on machinery and responding to inquiries related to them;
- Recording control totals for on-line output reports; preparing problem logs;
- Recommends updates to procedures to isolate and resolve common operating problems on multiprocessing mailing systems and equipment.
AND
You must also meet the following requirements:
- MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT: Minimum age for federal employment is 18 years old, or at least 16 years old and have:
- Graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or
- Completed a formal vocational training program; or
- Received a statement from school authorities agreeing with your preference for employment rather than continuing your education;
