Job summary

Nassal in Orlando seeks a CNC Operator – Carpentry, Second Shift to set up and operate CNC equipment for cabinetry and custom woodworking. You will review plans, load materials, run programs, measure first-run parts, and verify quality while maintaining logs and safety.

This role emphasizes shift handoff communications, adherence to PPE and shop procedures, and proactive maintenance. Experience with 3–4 axis machines and reading blueprints preferred; high school diploma required; second shift

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–4 years of experience on 3-, 4-, and 7-axis machines preferred.
• Familiarity with ArtCAM, AutoCAD, VCarve, PowerMill, and Rhino preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret engineering plans is required.
• Cabinetry/woodworking production experience preferred.
• Ability to maintain quality and production standards with limited supervision during second shift.
• Ability to document production activity and communicate shift handoff details.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety regulations, PPE requirements, and shop procedures.
• Set up and operate CNC equipment used for carpentry and woodworking production.
• Review work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, and machining parameters.
• Load material into position and prepare stock for machining.
• Enter or load machine instructions, zero/reference points, offsets, tool registers, compensation, and related machine settings as assigned.
• Verify settings by measuring first-run parts and sample workpieces.
• Observe drilling, grooving, cutting, and related machining operations.
• Inspect finished parts to ensure quality, dimensional accuracy, and adherence to production requirements.
• Maintain production and quality logs.
• Complete preventive maintenance requirements, troubleshoot malfunctions, and communicate repair or supply needs.
• Communicate second-shift production status, irregularities, and continuing needs to the Foreman, Lead, or first-shift team.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Job description

The CNC Operator – Carpentry, Second Shift is responsible for operating CNC equipment to machine essential production components for cabinetry, scenic elements, and custom woodworking projects. The CNC Programmer/Operator position requires close attention to detail and commitment to quality.

This position supports second-shift production continuity by preparing, machining, inspecting, documenting, and communicating work status between shifts. The existing CNC description specifically includes maintaining continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follow all safety regulations, PPE requirements, and shop procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to lift, sand, mask, and move materials up to 30 lbs. as needed.
• Comfortable standing, bending, and performing repetitive tasks for extended periods.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to safely use tools and materials.
• Must maintain continuous awareness of hazards and enforce safety practices.
