The client is an international market leader in the engineering and manufacturing of web handling, material handling, and converting solutions. Our broad portfolio of products is marketed to the paper, tissue, film, and foil-converting industries.

As a CNC Milling Machinist, you will join a team of skilled professionals in our CNC Machining department. You will work on various milling machines (Haas, YCM, Matsuura, Mazak). Ongoing training is a key component of our continuous improvement mission.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC equipment in a low-volume, high-mix environment with multiple setups daily.
  • Set up and run machines efficiently and productively.
  • Ensure part quality through visual and hand inspection equipment.
  • Collaborate directly with leads, engineering, and CNC programmers.
  • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machines using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Stop machines to remove finished pieces or to change tooling, setup, and piece placement according to machining sequences.
  • Review program specifications and blueprints to ensure machine setup and operations meet specifications for finished dimensions.
  • Participate in cross-training on a variety of machines.
  • Assist in training new or cross-trained employees as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Understanding of CNC programming, G-code, and Mastercam.
  • Strong math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
  • Physical ability to handle heavy items, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components up to 50 lbs.
  • Excellent communication skills for interaction with management, engineering, and programming teams.
  • Ability to stand for an entire 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with lean principles and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of inspection equipment such as micrometers, verniers, and height gauges.
  • Reliability.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a machine shop, with knowledge of basic machining practices and materials being a plus.
  • General mechanical knowledge and aptitude.
