Seeking a hands-on CNC Machining / Mechanical Technician to support a fast-paced prototype manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys turning digital designs into physical parts and working with industrial-grade CNC equipment.
You will work closely with design and engineering teams to manufacture prototype components, manage machining jobs from start to finish, and help ensure parts are delivered accurately and on schedule.
This is a highly hands-on position where you will have the opportunity to work with advanced machining equipment, complex geometries, and rapidly evolving hardware designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Program CNC machining jobs using templated CAM programs, preferably in Fusion 360.
- Load and unload materials and monitor CNC machine status.
- Launch machining jobs at regular intervals to maintain production schedules.
- Remove completed parts from machines and perform required cleaning and post-processing.
- Inspect parts carefully to protect and maintain critical features.
- Update task-management systems to keep internal customers informed of job progress.
- Follow established SOPs for equipment operation, maintenance, safety, and production.
- Maintain machines and ensure required tooling and materials are available for continuous production.
- Communicate proactively when jobs encounter issues or timelines are at risk.
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to support prototype development.
Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years of relevant experience minimum, with 3-5 years preferred.
- Hands-on experience operating CNC machines, either in a commercial or advanced hobby environment.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software, such as Fusion 360 or an equivalent platform.
- Ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D digital design files.
- Demonstrated hands-on fabrication, machining, or digital manufacturing experience.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Willingness and ability to work fully onsite in Sunnyvale, CA, five days per week.
- Experience working in a prototype or rapid-development machine shop.
- Familiarity with 5-axis CNC machining.
- Experience with post-processing techniques such as:
- Familiarity with SolidWorks, Mastercam, Rhino, or similar software.
- Experience working with complex geometries and prototype components.
- Experience collaborating directly with engineering or product design teams.
