Akkodis is seeking a CNC Machinist for contract to hire with a client located in Grand Junction Colorado.

Pay Range: $40/hr. - $42/hr. (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.)

Shift Schedule:

• Monday-Thursday
• 4:00 PM - 2:30 AM
• 4-day workweek / 10.5-hour shifts

Job Summary

• We are seeking an experienced Machinist II to set up and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC mills and CNC lathes, including machines with and without live tooling.
• The ideal candidate will have strong CNC setup and machining experience, blueprint/GD&T knowledge, and proficiency with precision measurement tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely set up and operate a variety of CNC mills, CNC lathes, and other machining equipment.
• Work from blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T specifications, and verbal instructions to manufacture machined components.
• Assemble and install appropriate cutting tools.
• Monitor machine operation and identify worn or damaged cutting tools.
• Enter commands and adjust tool offsets and work coordinates/positions.
• Calculate appropriate feeds, speeds, and tooling requirements.
• Maintain 6S standards and a clean, safe work environment.
• Perform other machining and production-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of machinist experience.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC machines.
• Strong knowledge of CNC machine setup and operation.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Understanding of G-code and M-code and/or Mazatrol.
• Proficient with precision inspection and measurement tools, including:
• Micrometers
• Calipers
• Ability to perform basic shop calculations, including feeds and speeds.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to safely lift and load parts into machinery.
• Ability to perform heavy physical work and lift 50-75 lbs.
• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent preferred.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Mazak CNC machines.
• Experience with Mazak Mill or Mazak Integrex.
• Experience operating multi-axis CNC machining centers.
• Experience with 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining.
• Experience with live tooling.
