Job summary

Chimes is seeking a Computer Network Support Specialist to install, monitor, and troubleshoot local and wide area network services for our organization. This remote role is open to candidates across the United States, with compensation determined by geographic tier and internal equity.

Responsibilities include monitoring network performance, diagnosing connectivity and security issues, configuring equipment, and providing user assistance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in IT/Networking preferred.
• 4 years of networking experience preferred.
• Experience in security-conscious environments is a plus.
• Experience documenting and resolving network incidents is required.

Chimes | Computer Network Support Specialist| Remote Position

We're looking for a Computer Network Support Specialist to install, monitor, and troubleshoot local and wide area network services for Chimes.

Location: This role is remote within the USA. You must be legally authorized to work in the US. Chimes does not provide visa sponsorship.

What you'll do

• Monitor network availability, performance, utilization, and security alerts, and respond according to established procedures.
• Diagnose and resolve connectivity, routing, switching, wireless, cabling, firewall, and related network issues within assigned authority; extend outages, security events, and complex faults as needed.
• Configure, install, test, and support approved network equipment and security updates, and assist with backups, access permissions, and restoration activities.
• Provide telephone, electronic, and in-person assistance to users with connectivity and network-service issues.
• Document symptoms, diagnostic steps, configurations, and resolutions in accurate support records, and maintain network diagrams, equipment inventories, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Research replacement options, prepare network status and incident reports, contribute to knowledge articles, protect confidentiality, and comply with agency policies.

What you bring

• Associate degree in Information Technology, Networking, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
• Relevant networking or vendor certifications preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of related education, training, and experience may be considered.
• Two (2) or more years supporting computer networks, network devices, connectivity, or related infrastructure.
• Experience documenting and resolving network incidents and service requests.
• Working knowledge of routing, switching, wireless networking, TCP/IP, cabling, firewalls, and common diagnostic tools.
• Experience in government, regulated, or security-conscious environments preferred.

Degrees and certifications in computer science, data science, or related fields are preferred, but equivalent education and experience are welcome.

Compensation:

This is a remote position open to candidates in the United States. Base salary is determined by the candidate’s work location, along with skills, experience, and internal equity. The ranges below reflect the minimum and maximum base pay for each geographic tier:

• Tier 1 (Baltimore, MD, Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia): $44.42 - $56.94 per hour
• Tier 2 (Dallas, TX, New Castle, DE, and Los Angeles, CA): $35.59 - $49.24 per hour
• Tier 3 (Orlando, FL): $31.82 - $36.59 per hour
