Job summary

MITRE is seeking a Computer Engineering or Computer Science co-op to join a team of experts and gain hands-on experience across software development, AI/ML, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, and embedded systems.

You will contribute to prototyping in MITRE and government labs, test and demonstrate advanced analytic capabilities, and develop skills in data mining, modeling, and cloud environments while pursuing an accredited degree.

Qualifications

• Must be a full‑time student pursuing an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related disciplines.
• Must continue to be enrolled the semester following the internship.
• Foundational knowledge of computer science and/or software engineering methodologies, frameworks, tools and/or programming languages.
• Must have sustained excellence in academic performance.
• Must have ability to obtain and maintain a DoW security clearance.
• Passion for using software to solve challenging real‑world problems.
• Demonstrated proficiency and strength in verbal, written, PC, presentation, and communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience having applied computer science and/or software engineering learning to an internship, research or lab setting.
• Proficiency using computer science and software engineering methodologies, frameworks, tools and/or programming languages.
• Demonstrated interest in serving the public through previous work experience, volunteer activities, or other relevant engagements.
• Demonstrated proficiency using programming languages (such as Python, C/C++, Java).

Clearance: In addition to passing MITRE’s employment background check, you may be submitted for a U.S. Government Security clearance. This is determined by the Department of War’s adjudicative guidelines for receiving a clearance, to include U.S. citizenship. Other jobs may require vetting for variouslevels of agency public trust, fitness, suitability, controlled access, and special programs access determination consistent with the work program to which you are assigned.
