Job summary

MITRE invites motivated students pursuing an accredited degree in CS or Software Engineering to join our internship program. You will contribute across Front-End, Back-End, and full-stack domains while applying AI/ML, cybersecurity, and DevSecOps practices in real projects with federal impact.

This on-site internship requires enrollment in the semester following the internship and a track record of strong academic performance.

• Must be a full-time student pursuing an accredited degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related disciplines.
• Must continue to be enrolled the semester following the internship.
• Foundational knowledge of computer science and/or software engineering methodologies, frameworks, tools and/or programming languages.
• Must have sustained excellence in academic performance.
• This position has an on-site requirement of 3 days a week minimum.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to Front-End, Back-End, Middleware, or Full-Stack development initiatives.
• Apply AI/ML, cybersecurity software development, DevSecOps, and related technologies.
• Support modeling, simulation, and UX/UI efforts as part of project teams.

Basic Qualifications

• Must be a full-time student pursuing an accredited degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience having applied computer science and/or software engineering learning to an internship, research or lab setting.
• Proficiency using computer science and software engineering methodologies, frameworks, tools and/or programming languages.
• Demonstrated interest in serving the public through previous work experience, volunteer activities, or other relevant engagements.

Clearance

In addition to passing MITRE’s employment background check, you may be submitted for a U.S. Government Security clearance. This is determined by the Department of Defense’s adjudicative guidelines for receiving a clearance, to include U.S. citizenship. Other jobs may require vetting for various levels of agency public trust, fitness, suitability, controlled access, and special programs access determination consistent with the work program to which you are assigned.

Salary compensation range and midpoint

$46,500 - $58,000 - $69,500 Annual
