Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a CAE Engineer focused on seat analysis in Missouri. You will apply Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and related methods to develop and validate seat structures, guide designs, and coordinate with suppliers and internal teams.

You will use NX-based tools along with Nastran, Optistruct, and LS-Dyna to analyze seat performance, correlate with tests, and deliver robust engineering solutions for programs. Reporting to the local office is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Eng, Structural Eng, or Aerospace Eng.
• Two years of experience in CAE/engineering roles.
• Experience with linear analysis using Nastran and Optistruct.
• Experience with non-linear analysis using LS-Dyna.
• Experience with seat structural analysis and automotive testing methods.
• Experience with NX design math systems and airbag deployment CAE.
• Able to report to the local office.

Responsibilities

• Perform seat comfort and structural analysis on assigned seat projects.
• Use FEA and other methods to assess and lead seat designs.

• Participate in creating subsystem FEA models.
• Motivate CAE suppliers and internal resources to meet milestones.
• Complete FEA analysis and produce VDDV models from NX.
• Perform H Point/TA, seat and head/whiplash analyses.
• Correlate results to tests and document in FEA reports.
• Generate technical solutions for programs.
• Perform virtual assessments and compare to requirements.
• Initiate design solutions balancing mass and cost.
• Implement engineering changes and balance system requirements.
• Plan and implement test and development programs; stay abreast of new tech.
• Communicate and coordinate with engineering teams and customers.

Job description

• Performs seat comfort and structural analysis on assigned seat projects at the vehicle system level
• Uses Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other analysis methods to assess and lead seat STO and designs
• Develops FEA plans for assigned projects
• Participates in creating assigned subsystem FEA models
• Motivates CAE suppliers and internal resources to meet program milestones and deliverables
• Completes FEA analysis, including production and execution of VDDV models from NX math
• Performs H Point/TA, seat comfort, seat/seat belt anchorage strength, child restraint anchorage strength, front/rear impact, head impact, and whiplash analyses
• Compares FEA results to performance requirements and recommends viable design solutions
• Correlates analysis results to physical tests, updates FEA models and procedures, and documents results in FEA reports
• Generates technical solutions for current, new, and major programs
• Performs sophisticated design analysis and develops engineering designs, including subsystems
• Performs virtual assessments of designs and compares results to performance requirements
• Initiates design solutions to resolve performance issues with mass and cost efficiency
• Implements engineering changes and specifies and balances system requirements
• Plans and implements test and development programs and stays abreast of new technology
• Communicates, coordinates, and consults with engineering departments and customers

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Structural Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field of study
• Two years of experience as a CAE Specialist Engineer, Software Engineer, Structural Engineer, Automotive Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or related role
• Two years of experience with linear analysis including Nastran and Optistruct
• Two years of experience with non-linear analysis including LS Dyna
• Two years of experience with seat structural analysis
• Two years of experience with automotive physical test methods
• Two years of experience with material properties as inputs into CAE analysis tools
• Two years of experience with design math systems including NX
• Two years of experience with airbag deployment CAE
• Two years of experience with crashworthiness
• Two years of experience with head impact CAE
• Must be able to report to the local office
