Internal Job Title: Senior Expert I/Senior Expert II, Data Science

Position Location: Cambridge, MA, onsite

About this role:

At GDC of Biomedical Research in Cambridge, MA, we seek a researcher with a background in data science and computational chemistry to contribute to drug discovery efforts.

Your Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to discover and develop novel therapies.
  2. Apply and develop machine-learning, cheminformatics, and physics-based algorithms.
  3. Use data science and statistical methods to develop hypotheses and contribute to data-driven drug discovery.
  4. Build and automate computational workflows combining machine learning and physics-based methods.
  5. Communicate scientific results internally and externally.
  6. Contribute to patents, publications, and presentations.
  7. Participate in global initiatives shaping drug discovery at Novartis.

What you will bring to the role:

  • PhD in data science, machine learning, computational chemistry, engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years' experience in scientific software development, including ML libraries, RDKit, ML Ops, Python.
  • Proven track record in research in data science, ML, computational chemistry, or life sciences.
  • Curiosity, innovation, teamwork, and openness to diverse perspectives.
  • Ability to interpret results, formulate hypotheses, and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in computer-aided drug design, molecular dynamics, virtual screening, pharmacophore modeling.
  • Experience working in industrial drug discovery teams.
