Role Description

The Computer Aided Design (CAD) Drafter is a full-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX. This role is responsible for creating and modifying detailed technical and engineering drawings for customized overhead crane systems, using CAD software in accordance with company and industry standards. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting engineering concepts, preparing layout and fabrication drawings, updating existing designs, and ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation. The CAD Drafter collaborates closely with engineering, manufacturing, and installation teams to resolve design issues, support project timelines, and incorporate feedback from field operations. The role also involves maintaining drawing files, adhering to safety and compliance requirements, and contributing to continuous improvement of drafting processes.

Qualifications

• Ability to produce precise Technical Drawing and Engineering Drawings for industrial equipment and structures.
• Experience creating and interpreting Architectural Drawings related to layouts, building interfaces, and structural details.
• Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and standards, with strong Drawing skills for 2D and 3D models.
• Working knowledge of mechanical or structural engineering principles relevant to overhead cranes or material handling systems.
• Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with engineers, project managers, and shop personnel.
• Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent experience in drafting, CAD, engineering technology, or a related field.
• Experience with industry-standard CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) and familiarity with OSHA or industrial safety standards is beneficial.
