Job summary

Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN, seeks a Computed Tomography Engineer to test, maintain, calibrate CT/Radiography equipment and oversee imaging-system compliance. You will train operators and support improvements, installation of new equipment, and process capabilities.

Minimum requirements include engineering or physics degrees with GPA criteria; DOE experience and ISMS security readiness are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree GPA requirement up to 4 years post-graduation, minimum GPA specified in offer.
  • There is a GPA requirement up to 4 years post-graduation and engineering experience may supersede GPA beyond four years.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing, plan repairing of and maintaining CT/Radiography equipment.
  • Oversee testing, maintenance, calibration, and compliance of imaging systems.
  • Provide training of operators to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Provide technical support for operations and projects aimed at improved performance, installation of new equipment and process capabilities.
  • Establish and govern document life cycles management, including creation, revision, approval, and periodic review.
  • Own the end-to-end engineering change management execution, ensuring changes are controlled, timely, auditable, and effective in resolving underlying issues.
  • Ensure that all tools and test equipment expiration dates are managed and that no overdue calibration test equipment is used.
  • Position will play a role in quality evaluations and use technical expertise to develop, verify, and validate performance of process capabilities.
  • Interface with multiple layers of personnel daily, including operations, maintenance, program management, mission managers, development and engineering personnel.
  • Daily assignments will be established based on experience level.
  • Training will be provided to develop skills to support all functions of the position.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor\'s degree in engineering or physics discipline with a minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA OR a Master\'s degree in engineering/physical science discipline with a minimum 3.3/4.0 cumulative GPA OR a PhD in engineering/physical science discipline with a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA.
  • There is a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement up to 4 years post-graduation at time of offer and confirmed by transcript. Beyond four years from graduation, engineering experience will supersede GPA as a requirement for hire.
  • In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major, 2 years job-related, and 1-year nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Strong technical, organization, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Prior experience servicing, repairing, and maintaining CT and/or Radiography equipment.
  • Expertise in engineering change management principles and configuration management
  • Ability to interpret information from technical requirements, management requirements, and industry standards to support the implementation of technical projects.
  • High discipline in documentation, traceability, and audit readiness.
  • Ability to clearly express and document technical issues using Microsoft Office or other software packages.
  • Self-starter and able to work with all levels of personnel ranging from craft to Design Agency staff.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and Y-12 organizational policies, configuration and document control procedures, and Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS).
  • Experience with Non-destructive testing equipment and processes.
