Job Summary

Under the direction of the manager and the in-charge technologist, the CT Technologist performs a variety of procedures applying ionizing radiation. Responsibilities include performing CT scans as directed, communicating effectively with physicians and team members, and adhering to Prisma Health policies. Accountabilities

  1. Identify patients and procedures; communicate with nursing or physicians regarding patient needs, including IV sedation or biopsies. Complete CT and female questionnaires for patients aged 12-55. Position patients accurately for optimal imaging. Know and follow scanning protocols, perform procedures correctly, and ensure timely completion and interpretation of studies. Maintain documentation of procedure completion. Prepare and maintain the cleanliness and stock of the room, including supplies and linens. Use proper technique for IV contrast injections, verify IV functionality, and operate imaging equipment proficiently, including 3D imaging and multiplanar reconstruction. Respond appropriately to emergency codes.
  2. Explain CT procedures to patients and families; obtain complete patient history and clinical information; inform about delays. Assist in training co-workers and students; support other technologists when available.
  3. Acquire requisitions, verify clinical details, and ensure proper billing and coding. Operate PACS system, verify studies before archiving, and report equipment issues. Complete all necessary documentation, including contrast and surgical forms. Collaborate with radiologists to determine appropriate protocols, perform procedures as directed, and recognize anatomy and pathology. Perform warm-up calibrations as needed.
  4. Maintain competency in all aspects of CT procedures, including point-of-care testing. Follow all protocols and standards as prescribed by radiologists and department policies.

Minimum Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with ARRT certification in CT. Current ARRT registration in CT, CPR certification, and SCQRSA license are required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Excellent customer service skills, basic computer skills, knowledge of office equipment, data entry, and preferred 3D imaging capabilities.
