Job summary

Job Details

Hourly range: $32.25 - $40.31.

Essential Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities
  • Performs CT scanning of human anatomy.
  • Produces ionizing radiation within a safe permissible range to achieve quality images.
  • Provides proper patient protection in accordance with safety standards and secures patient cooperation during examinations.
  • Assists with radiology functions within a patient care facility, including planning and developing departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable tribal, state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Operates fixed and portable radiographic systems.
  • Performs duties vital to Diagnostic Radiology and CT Services for outpatient, inpatient, and emergency medicine.
  • Ensures all patient orders, lab work, and consent forms are complete timely.
  • Reviews labs and patient history to perform correct exams.
  • Administers IV contrast and oral/rectal contrast when appropriate.
  • Familiarizes with recognition and response to adverse or allergic reactions.
  • Administers IV contrast material via existing IV line or holds venipuncture.
  • Identifies and reviews each patient’s requisition for consistency with clinical diagnosis.
  • Ensures accurate documentation on exams/requisitions.
  • Assesses patient condition and ensures safety via table straps and other support devices.
  • Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images and ensures proper film identification.
  • Coordinates exams with other modalities for efficient processing.
  • Conducts case review with radiologist when appropriate.
  • Screens patients for pregnancy, performs pregnancy testing if applicable.
  • Reviews radiology orders for completeness and accuracy.
  • Reviews patient history and supporting clinical data for medical necessity.
  • Acquires additional information as needed from patient, provider, and/or radiologist.
  • Demonstrates acceptable imaging quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors, and alignment.
  • Reviews patient data for accuracy, quality, and completeness.
  • Verifies and transfers image data in PACS, providing necessary history for radiologist interpretation.
  • Ensures patient, visitor, and environmental safety.
  • Prevents excessive radiation doses by applying ALARA and adhering to department policies.
  • Initiates incident reports in RLDatix system and reports incomplete exams to oncoming shift and radiology manager.
  • Transports patients to other departments as needed.
  • Responds to on‑call services in a timely manner.
  • Assists with quality and safety programs and ensures accreditation compliance.
  • Participates in development and review of program goals and objectives.
  • Assists with radiology services quality assurance program compliance with CMS and FDIHB’s QA plan.
  • Maintains cooperative communication with other departments.
  • Communicates with Health Information Technology to ensure timely billing.
  • Assists with supply inventory, ordering, and equipment management.
  • Maintains accurate equipment preventive maintenance and quality control records.
  • Maintains accurate daily/weekly/monthly quality control reports.
  • Assists with invasive procedures and demonstrates sterile technique.
  • Attends all mandatory training.
  • Assists in orientation and training of radiologic technologists, contractors, and students.
  • Maintains imaging equipment and work area including cleanliness and inventory.
  • Recognizes and reports equipment malfunctions and service needs timely.
  • Performs other duties as assigned; assists physicians and radiologists as needed.
Minimum Mandatory Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of direct work experience or completion of a direct work experience program through FDIHB, Inc.’s CT Technologist training program.
Education
  • Associate of Science (AS) degree in Radiologic Technology.
  • Certificate of completion by an accredited radiology training program and/or the U.S. Military Tri‑Service Radiography Program.
Licensure / Certifications
  • Certified and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and must maintain credentials.
  • Active, unrestricted Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist Certification by the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) and must maintain certification.
  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and must maintain certification.
Navajo/Indian Preference

FDIHB, Inc. is located within the Navajo Nation and, in accordance with Navajo Nation law, has implemented a Navajo/Indian Preference in Employment Policy. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and are enrolled members of the Navajo Nation will be given primary preference in hiring; members of other federally recognized Indian tribes will receive secondary preference. Other candidates will be considered only after all candidates entitled to primary or secondary preference have been fully considered.
