Descripción del empleo

The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard is seeking a talented and motivated Computational Scientist to join Broad Scalable Services. In this role, you will be at the forefront of translating cutting‑edge genomic research into robust, scalable products that empower the global scientific community.

As part of Broad Scalable Services, you will bridge the gap between initial research discovery and production‑level computational pipelines. While the initial focus of this role will be on the development and optimization of emerging single‑cell products, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to a diverse portfolio of genomic and multiomic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable computational pipelines for high‑throughput genomic data, ensuring high performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with experimentalists and product development teams to define computational requirements for new genomic assays and technologies.
  • Lead the computational analysis of complex datasets to validate product performance, identify technical artifacts, and refine analytical methods.
  • Act as a technical bridge between research laboratories and software engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of biological insights into automated workflows.
Requirements
  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 3+ years of related experience.
  • Strong computational, statistical, and data analysis skills, with hands‑on experience handling high‑dimensional biological or genomic datasets.
  • Proficiency in developing software and writing clean, maintainable code in modern programming languages (e.g., Python, R, C++).
  • Solid foundation in applied mathematics and statistics (e.g., probability theory, hypothesis testing, linear algebra, dimensionality reduction).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams of experimentalists and software engineers.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex, open‑ended technical problems both independently and as part of a team.

The expected base pay range for this position as listed above is based on a 40 hour per week schedule. Broad provides pay ranges representing its reasonable and good faith estimate of what the organization reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, education, qualifications, and other factors permissible by law.

At Broad, your base pay is just one part of a comprehensive total rewards package. From day one, this role offers a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; a 401(k) retirement plan; flexible spending and health savings accounts; at least 13 paid holidays; winter closure; paid time off; parental and family care leave; and an employee assistance program, among other Broad benefits.

The Broad Institute is an equal opportunity employer.
