Job summary

Tabula is hiring a Research Scientist to build the computational and physics-based modeling core. You will develop models of phage–bacteria dynamics, run large-scale simulations, and validate them against experimental data in collaboration with our wet lab.

The role blends theory, computation, and practical pathways to real therapies. You will shape research direction, model quality, and experimentation standards in an early-stage AI-first biotech.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Physics or a closely related quantitative field, or equivalent research experience.
  • Strong background in numerical methods and large-scale simulation.
  • Experience with high-performance computing environments.
  • Fluency in Python; familiarity with PyTorch is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop physics-based theoretical and computational models of phage–bacteria infection dynamics.
  • Design and implement numerical methods and software for large-scale simulation and analysis.
  • Perform mathematical analysis including numerical stability and error analysis.
  • Analyze experimental data to infer parameters and constrain models.
  • Conduct computational experiments in close coordination with wet-lab scientists.
  • Help define the research roadmap and improve experimentation and reproducibility.
  • Support building an AI-first company focused on real therapies for patients.
