Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals in Boston is seeking a Computational Genomics Research Scientist to advance cell and gene therapy research. The role focuses on bulk and single-cell sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and multiomics to reveal molecular programs guiding cell identity and safety.

This hybrid, Boston-based position requires 3 days on site weekly, with collaboration across stem cell biology, immunology, and pre-clinical development to accelerate next-gen therapies.

Qualifications

• Experience analyzing genomic and NGS data
• Proficiency in single-cell and spatial transcriptomics experiments
• Proficiency in Python and/or R for data analysis
• Strong statistics, experimental design, and reproducible research practices

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define genomics questions
• Lead spatial transcriptomics method development and best practices
• Analyze diverse genomic datasets (bulk RNA-seq, single-cell, spatial) to generate insights
• Conduct computational analyses with rigorous statistical methods and clear visualizations
• Document workflows, reports, and technical materials for research/regulatory needs
• Evaluate new genomics technologies and integrate into workflows
