Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc. is seeking a Computational Fluid Dynamicist to conduct advanced numerical simulations and develop vehicle designs at NASA Langley, VA. The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, along with significant experience in computational fluid dynamics and familiarity with grid generation software.

Job description

Computational Fluid Dynamicist – NASA Langley, VA (CHARGE)

Responsibilities
  • Perform three‑dimensional numerical simulations of internal and external flows with multi‑species finite‑rate chemistry and accompanying grid generation.
  • Develop engine and vehicle designs, determine performance and operability for ramjet/scramjet propulsion programs using cycle to Navier‑Stokes codes.
Qualifications
  • MS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 2–5 years of work experience in computational fluid dynamics.
  • Experience with commercial or government grid generation packages (e.g., Pointwise, Heldenmesh) and flow solvers (VULCAN, Loci/CHEM, FUN3D, USM3D, OVERFLOW, CFD++).
  • Experience with data visualization software such as TECPLOT.
  • Background with CAD software and interpretation of high‑speed wind‑tunnel testing is preferred.
  • U.S. citizenship required; security clearance will be needed.
