Job summary
Oak Ridge National Laboratory invites applications for a Computational Instrument Scientist focused on software analysis tools for powder diffraction instruments. This role sits in the Diffraction Section of the Neutron Scattering Division, collaborating across instrument teams and applying methods to multi-dimensional data analysis and real-time visualization.
You will contribute to software development, documentation, and user support, with opportunities to work on upgrade projects and expand
Qualifications
- PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering, or related field.
- Two+ years of research experience beyond PhD; commensurate with years of experience.
- Demonstrated track record of scientific software development.
Responsibilities
- Refine data reduction, analysis and modeling software requirements for user communities.
- Develop documentation and tutorials for data acquisition, reduction and analysis.
- Participate in instrument upgrade projects with a focus on software development for data reduction, analysis and modeling.
- Triage and prioritize issues and bugs reported by users.
- Communicate software development activities to instrument teams.
