Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory seeks an Associate Staff Scientist to advance structural biology research within the LCLS Biological Sciences Department. The role emphasizes developing computational workflows, real-time data processing, and AI-enabled analysis to support the Macromolecular Femtosecond Crystallography program at MFX.

Qualifications

• PhD in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Bioengineering, Computational Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
• Experience in structural biology research at x-ray sources.
• Hands-on experience with X-ray spectroscopy and/or X-ray diffraction techniques.
• Demonstrated record of scientific productivity through peer-reviewed publications.

Responsibilities

• Develop computational tools and workflows for structural biology experiments.
• Support user science activities at the MFX instrument and LCLS II upgrades.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and users to improve robustness and data quality.
• Lead community engagement and scientific outreach for LCLS biology capabilities.
