Job summary

Realta Fusion Inc. is seeking an NBI Scientist (Computational Beam Physicist) to lead the scientific-code stack that connects fast beam models, high-fidelity simulations, and experimental validation.

You will develop tools to model beam behavior, compare results to data, and guide beam-system design and planning. The role requires a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field, strong Python/C++ skills, HPC, and experience with large-scale simulations.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Plasma Physics, or related field.
• Background in beam physics, plasma physics, particle transport, computational physics, or related field.
• Strong foundation in physics, scientific Python, and numerical methods; experience with C++, HPC, and GPU computing.
• Experience developing and maintaining scientific software with version control, testing, documentation, and reproducible workflows.
• Ability to develop parameter scans, uncertainty studies, optimization methods, and surrogate-model workflows.
• Experience with large-scale simulations and complex physical system analysis.
• Experience with PIC, Monte Carlo, beamline, or multiphysics codes is preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively and clearly communicate computational results.

Responsibilities

• Take primary responsibility for RealBeam architecture, implementation quality, and verification.
• Connect RealBeam and WarpX workflows across WHAM and Narsil.
• Develop and maintain the validated modeling pipeline linking simulations with experiments.
• Develop, test, and improve scientific software and numerical tools.
• Perform computational studies and parameter scans to evaluate beam behavior.
• Translate simulation results into technical recommendations for planning and design.
• Collaborate with NBI team providing software and computational expertise.
