ABOUT THE Division
Join the Information Technology division team as a Data Governance Specialist Intern! Performs entry-level data governance policy and procedure analysis work. Work involves assisting in promoting the data literacy program for the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts through the direction of the Data Management Officer. Assists in performing data governance through tools to track metadata and data classification. May support data literacy initiatives through new ideas. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Apply today and help the Comptroller’s office keep the Texas economy strong.
Work Hours
40 hours per week between the hours of 7 a.m. – 6 p.m., with occasional evening and weekend hours. Hours may change based on business needs.
Teleworking may be considered if certain working conditions are met. The candidate must be able to meet in-office requirements, which can vary among different sections (i.e., report to office 1-3 days/week, etc.). Travel reimbursements are not provided for teleworking.

Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior at an accredited four-year college or university, or a recent graduate within one year, with a major course in data science, business analytics, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, or related fields, such as political science, government, public affairs, communications, or liberal arts.

This position requires the incumbent to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (standing and walking) is routinely required to carry out some duties. It requires extensive computer, telephone, and client contact. It requires the ability to bend, stoop, kneel and reach as needed for filing or similar routine office duties. This job also requires normal cognitive ability, the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to details despite interruptions. Marginal or corrective visual or audio requirements are required for reading printed materials, computer screens, and communicating with internal and external customers. May involve up to 25 pounds of office equipment/material on a limited basis.
Employees are required to use their personal mobile phones as a part of 2-factor/multi-factor authentication for accessing CPA systems securely. You will also receive critical/emergency calls/texts on your cell phone to ensure immediate communication.
