Job description

CRC is seeking to fill a Compressor Operator/Technician for our Roosevelt, Utah office.

Position Overview

The Compressor Operator/Technician 2 operates gas compressors more independently, performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting under limited supervision. This role requires intermediate mechanical knowledge and the ability to identify potential equipment issues, with a greater emphasis on safety and team collaboration. Responsibilities
  • Operates compressors, ensuring efficiency and performance optimization.
  • Performs routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks, such as valve checks and filter replacements.
  • Troubleshoots and resolved common operational issues, escalating complex problems to senior staff.
  • Ensures all required information is documented.
  • Supports the implementation of safety protocols and adherence to HSE regulations.
  • Assists in the setup and shutdown of compressor units, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Completes daily operational logs, including pressure readings, temperatures, and maintenance performed.
  • Identify potential operational inefficiencies and report findings to supervisors.
  • Collaborates with team members to ensure smooth compressor operations and communication
  • Collaborates with the operational and HSE teams to meet area and departmental HSE goals effectively.
  • Complies with all the Company's Safety and Environmental policies, practices, and programs. Takes corrective action within training limitations. Escalates as necessary.
  • Participates in and adheres to all training programs designed to enhance HSE knowledge, safety standards, and job performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma / GED equivalent required
  • Certification in gas compression or mechanical systems required
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • 2+ years of experience working with gas compressors in oil and gas production

Required
  • Knowledge of basic HSE requirements and the ability to respond to field conditions appropriately.
  • Ability to perform daily tasks such as gauging, basic adjustments, and repairs.
  • Ability to safely drive to remote locations and perform job tasks independently.
  • Moderate knowledge of practical field mechanics and physics.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of compressor mechanics
  • Basic computer literacy for data entry.
  • Ability to establish professional relationships with peers and external contacts.
  • Gas and liquid measurement experience.
  • Knowledge of oilfield systems, understanding of electrical systems, and familiarity with SCADA.

This role works primarily in a non-office environment. In this capacity, incumbents are regularly:

  • Exposed to outdoor elements such as extreme heat or cold, heavy winds, rain, or snow.
  • Exposed to loud noise-level elements
  • Required to drive to and access job sites, in light of day as well as in darkness, to perform work assignments. Some job site locations may be remote from the office requiring long drives to locations isolated from interaction with others and towns.
  • Required to balance, bend, squat, crouch, climb, reach, grasp, stoop, kneel, push/pull, and lift objects, and use apparatus to push/pull and lift heavy objects weighing 50 lbs or more.
  • Subject to exposure to hazards such as but not limited to slippery or uneven surfaces; environmental/industry hazards such as chemicals, high-decibel noise from production equipment, fumes, or poor ventilation; proximity to moving objects and vehicles; potentially combustible components; hazardous off-road conditions such as dust, ice, and snow.
  • May be requested to work long hours to complete job assignments.
  • May work a rotating schedule, shift, and/or be on call.
  • Follow all company safety policies and protocols.
  • Required to perform active, physical tasks including but not limited to operating equipment and/or machinery and making adjustments and repairs.
  • Required to have visual acuity to work with parts, equipment, apparatus, etc.
  • Required to possess audible acuity to hear alarms in the event of emergency. field locations.
