Ebara Elliott Energy (EEE) seeks a 2027 Compressor Aerodynamics (R&D) Intern for our U.S. headquarters in Jeannette, PA.

You will gain hands‑on experience in the Compressor Aerodynamics department within the rotating equipment industry, supporting design, refurbishment, and testing of steam turbines, compressors, and expander products. Preferred candidates are majoring in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years in a Bachelor’s program.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in aerodynamics simulations and data analysis is preferred.
• Experience with 3D CAD tools for design and modification is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Execute high‑fidelity aerodynamic simulations and validate models against baselines and test data.
• Support prototype test runs, evaluate performance, and modernize data acquisition workflows.
• Use engineering calculations and drawings to develop test‑rig modification proposals and hardware upgrades.
• Assist senior teams with 3D CAD modeling and analytical evaluations.

Overview & Responsibilities

2027 Compressor Aerodynamics (R&D) Intern

Overview

This is a support role to assist Ebara Elliott Energy (EEE) professionals in our U.S. global headquarters location in Jeannette, PA. Students will receive “hands‑on" experience in the Compressor Aerodynamics (R&D) department in the rotating equipment industry. At EEE, we design, build, refurbish and re‑engineer products used by some of the largest companies in the world. EEE manufactures steam turbines, centrifugal and axial compressors, cryogenic pumps and expanders, power recovery expanders and gas expanders for use in energy markets worldwide.

All internships will consist of the following elements

• Individual projects to own and complete for real world hands‑on experience;
• Team project and activities designed to demonstrate cooperation;
• Exposure to the day‑to‑day responsibilities of EEE leadership including participation in company and customer meetings and job shadowing.

The Compressor Aerodynamics (R&D) Intern will lead one or more of the following projects

• Execute high‑fidelity aerodynamic simulations and validate computational models against existing numerical baselines and historical test data.
• Support active prototype test runs, evaluate system performance data, and modernize data acquisition and reduction workflows.
• Utilize engineering calculations and technical drawings to develop detailed proposals for test‑rig modifications and hardware capability upgrades.
• Assist senior engineering teams with 3D CAD modeling, analytical evaluations, and ad‑hoc experimental research initiatives.

Preferred candidate: Major in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering completing minimum of 3 years of a Bachelor’s Degree. Full time students pursuing an Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering Master’s Degree are encouraged to apply.

This internship will be based at the EEE headquarters in Jeannette, PA. Candidates must be able to commute to our Jeannette, PA headquarters Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. for twelve weeks.
