Job summary

Piping Rock Health Products seeks a 3rd shift Compression Operator to set up and operate the compression machine per SOPs while maintaining 100% cGMP compliance to produce quality products.

You will perform setup, in-process checks, cleaning, and online documentation, ensuring accurate batch records and safe operation throughout the shift.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1 year or more operating a capsule machine in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to read/write English.
  • Ability to work autonomously and use resources available to complete tasks timely.
  • Work environment may be exposed to powders, chemicals, and allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, milk, dairy, eggs, wheat, gluten, soy, fish, and shellfish).
  • Ability to work in a physically challenging environment, including bending, twisting, and standing for up to 8 hours.
  • Must be able to climb a three-step ladder/step stool while lifting a scoop with 8 lbs. of powder.
  • Flexibility for overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Set up tablet press for run as per batch record instruction and adjust machine as required.
  • Perform in-process checks like average weight, thickness, hardness, friability and tablet weight.
  • Carry out Minor and Major cleaning of compression rooms.
  • Check and verify ingredient BR entries; report discrepancies to Supervisor.
  • Maintain tablet presses in good working order and report worn parts.
  • Maintain weighing scales and monitor calibration status; inform Supervisor if out of date.
  • Maintain area cleanliness of the compression room and machine.
  • Check tablets for defects like sticking, chipping, or capping during runs.
  • Document online in all Compression operations and review batch records for accuracy.
  • Identify blend and tablet rejections and segregate from good tablets; inform supervisor of issues.

The 3 rd shift Compression Operator is responsible for the set-up and operation of the compression machine in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures and maintaining 100% cGMP and compliance to ensure the production of quality products.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up tablet press for run, as per batch record instruction. Make any machine adjustments necessary during the batch run as required.
  • Responsible for in-process checks like average weight, thickness, hardness, friability and individual tablet weight, etc. Visually inspect tablet press as it is running to verify the machine is running within normal and safe operation.
  • Performs “Minor” and “Major” cleaning compression rooms.
  • Checks and verifies the ingredient weighed in BR entries, reports any discrepancy to Supervisor or designee.
  • Maintain tablet presses in good working order, inspect presses for wear, and have any worn or malfunctioning parts evaluated and reported to Supervisor or Manager.
  • Maintain the weighing scales neatly and cleanly to check the calibration status. If the calibration status is out of due date, inform Supervisor.
  • Responsible for area cleanliness of the compression room and machine.
  • Checks the tablets for physical defects like sticking, chipping, capping during the entire run of compression.
  • Responsible for online documentation in all Compression operations. Checks and reviews batch records for accuracy.
  • Properly identifies the blend and tablet rejections and segregates them from the good compressed tablets.
  • Informs supervisor or group leader of any issues during the compression process including abnormal machine operation.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to read/write English
