Qualifications

• Must hold an MD or DO with completed Ophthalmology residency.
• Board certified or eligible in Ophthalmology.
• Active NJ medical license or ability to licensure prior to start.
• Fellowship training is a plus.
• Open to early-to-mid career physicians (2–10 years in practice).

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive ophthalmologic care, including cataract surgery.
• Manage a full clinical and surgical caseload.
• Maintain a clinic and surgical schedule, including weekends and evenings.
• Collaborate with a transitioning surgeon to assume patient base.
• Build relationships with referring optometrists and primary care providers in New Jersey.
• Participate in equity partnership pathway within first two years.

POSITION OVERVIEW

SightMD is seeking a Comprehensive Cataract Surgeon to join its growing Pennsylvania team, with opportunities based in Toms River, Brick, or Spring Lake Heights, NJ. This position offers the opportunity to step into an established practice with a strong, built-in patient base following the retirement of a long-standing physician. Physicians also benefit from access to onsite ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs).

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide comprehensive ophthalmologic care, including advanced refractive cataract surgery.
• Manage a full clinical and surgical caseload consistent with practice volume.
• Maintain a clinic and surgical schedule that may include weekend and evening hours, consistent with SightMD's patient-access model.
• Work alongside the office's existing surgeon during a transition period, with the goal of assuming full responsibility for the patient base as that surgeon steps back.
• Build relationships with referring optometrists and primary care providers in New Jersey to sustain and grow the practice's patient volume.
• Participate in the equity partnership pathway available within the first two years of employment.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

• M.D. or D.O. with completion of an accredited Ophthalmology residency (fellowship training a plus).
• Board certified or board eligible in Ophthalmology
• Must hold an active New Jersey medical license or be able to obtain licensure prior to start.
• Recent residency or fellowship graduates and experienced surgeons (early-to-mid career, generally 2-10 years in practice) are both encouraged to apply.
• Demonstrated surgical competence in cataract surgery; additional subspecialty training is a plus.
• Connection or motivation to build a long-term practice in New Jersey is a plus.
• Strong clinical and surgical judgment in comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract care.
• Willingness to work a full schedule consistent with a 24/7 patient-access model, including weekends and evenings as needed.
• Comfort managing a multi-site schedule across the Toms River, Brick, and Spring Lake Heights, NJ offices.
• Collaborative, team-oriented approach to practicing within a multi-specialty group.
• Strong communication skills with patients, referring providers, and practice staff.
• Commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care and the highest ethical standards.
