Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support inpatient medication fulfillment at North Shore Medical Center. The role involves assisting pharmacists, preparing sterile and non-sterile medications, and ensuring proper stock and documentation across the facility.

Responsibilities include compounding per USP rules, maintaining compliance, and supporting clinical operations. A High School Diploma or equivalent and state license are required; PTCB certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Restock IV room supplies and automated dispensing cabinets.
• Answer calls and assist customers at the service window.
• Complete mandatory education to maintain licensure and competencies.

Job Summary

• Assist pharmacists in filling inpatient orders, documentation, monitoring stock for outdated medications and disposing of medications.
• Compound medications according to USP795 regulations.
• Perform sterile compounding in compliance with USP <795> regulations.
• Perform sterile compounding of hazardous medications according to USP <797> regulations.
• Assists with sterile compounding competencies
• Complete all Simplifi activities and inspections
• Prepare, deliver and collect all pharmacy items throughout the facility.
• Restocks IV room supplies
• Re-stock automated dispensing cabinets
• Perform floor checks, stock checks and assigned unit reviews.
• Prepackage medications.
• Answer the telephone and assist callers that do not require the professional judgment of a pharmacist.
• Assist customers at the service window.
• Complete mandatory education and training to maintain competencies, requirements, certification and/or licensure.
• Other duties as assigned

Experience

Previous hospital-related experience, formal training, or certification from a pharmacy technician training program desired 1-2 years

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Perform intermediate mathematical calculations associated with preparing non-sterile, extemporaneously manufactured pharmaceutical products and other medication doses.
• Follow all applicable state and federal controlled substance regulations.
• Continuously improve skills necessary of area-specific technology, including, but not limited to, robotics, automation, software, equipment, and information system.
• Read, interpret, and follow complex verbal and written instructions to prepare medications in a sterile environment in an accurate manner.
