Job summary

Chewy is seeking Compounding Pharmacists to join our outstanding team in Pittston, PA. In this role you will be responsible for receiving customer orders, applying clinical knowledge to appropriateness of prescription orders, verification of processed orders, working jointly with other pharmacists and compounding pharmacy technicians to compound orders.

Qualifications

  • Must have a BS or Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
  • Current Pennsylvania pharmacist license in good standing.
  • Experience with compounding and laboratory work preferred.
  • Strong math and detail orientation are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise compounding personnel.
  • Perform and document compounding procedures and quality checks.
  • Train and evaluate compounding staff.
  • Receive and process customer and veterinarian orders.
  • Calibrate and operate compounding equipment safely.
  • Review and approve materials for compounding.
  • Provide consultation and answer questions.
  • Follow USP <795>/<800> and internal guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Wear appropriate PPE and manage hazardous materials.
  • Adhere to all SOPs and participate in external training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Whatyou’lldo:
  • Directly supervise compounding personnel
  • Perform and accurately document compounding procedures, quality assurance/quality control checks, and release of compounded preparations
  • Train and evaluate compounding personnel
  • Use vital equipment such as computers, scanners, phones, or other technology devices as assigned.
  • Receive and process customer and veterinarian orders.
  • Calibrate,maintain, and use equipment to compound prescription orders andmonitorthe compounding environment
  • Review and approve materials for use in compounding
  • Answer questions/provide consultation.
  • Follow all safety, USP, and internal guidelines for preparation of compounded medications.
  • Exposure to chemicals used in the preparation of compounds.
  • Follow safety precaution when working with hazardous chemicalin accordance withUSP <800> and applicable laws
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Must display excellent problem-solving skills
  • When required, wear all personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Must have knowledge of basic principles, theories and laws, policies and procedures that pertain to compounding- specifically USP <795>, <800>, other USP general chapters, and best compounding practices
  • Ability to understand and adhere to all organizational standard operating procedures
  • Willingness to complete external training as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.
Whatyou’llneed:
  • Must have at least a BS or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree
  • CurrentPennsylvaniapharmacist license in good standing
  • Compounding and/or laboratory experience strongly preferred but notrequired
  • Strong math skills are vital
  • Required to be capableto undergorespirator fit testing - Full beards or a lot of facial hair may preventan accurateseal for the respirator
  • Ability tooperatein a fast-paced environment
  • Capable of working with small, delicate pieces of expensive machinery to completeappropriate dosageformsin a timely manner
  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation and work in a variety of positions and locations such as sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and walking; for prolonged periods of time
  • Wear required compounding safety equipment for extended periods of time when required.
  • Required to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
