Background & Purpose of the Job

Unilever Jonesboro provides a holistic and hygienic choice of personal care brands that benefit the mind, body, and health of consumers while minimizing environmental footprints and promoting the individual growth of our people. Our "mission of wellbeing" is quickly becoming the new status symbol for health and beauty. The Compounding Lead directs assigned-shift Processing operations and serves as the senior Processing representative during 2nd and 3rd shift. The role leads approximately 11-18 Compounders, Sanitation Technicians, and Pre-Weigh personnel to execute the schedule safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. The Lead converts the production plan into shift execution by assigning labor and tanks; setting batch, pump-out, sanitation, and Pre-Weigh priorities; adjusting resources as conditions change; verifying floor conditions; removing barriers; and escalating unresolved risks after appropriate initial action. Success requires strong technical judgment, decisive people leadership, and a 24- to 36-hour operating view that protects fill-line continuity and leaves the next shift better prepared.

What You'll Do

Review the outgoing handoff and assess schedule, batch and Pre-Weigh readiness, tank availability, staffing, equipment concerns, and quality holds. Assign work across Compounding, Sanitation Tech, and Pre-Weigh; set clear expectations; reallocate labor; and approve or adjust breaks, overtime, vacation coverage, and assignments. Walk the floor to verify execution, correct stalled or unproductive work, address GMP/5S concerns, and challenge explanations that do not match observed conditions. Handle routine people issues and difficult conversations professionally; coach employees, document or elevate concerns, and take authorized action when warranted. Check completion before shift end and provide a clear handoff covering batch and pump-out status, risks, staffing, equipment, ingredients, recurring issues, and actions taken. Coordinate required Area Lead touchpoints and leave the next shift with staged work, clear priorities, and operating readiness. Translate the weekly schedule into an executable shift plan using production priorities, tank and equipment availability, Pre-Weigh readiness, sanitation needs, and staffing. Prioritize batches by line-impact risk; maintain awareness of the current batch, next batch, next shift, and selected needs across the next 24-36 hours. Proactively move people, tanks, pump-outs, and sanitation priorities to protect schedule attainment and fill-line continuity. Make timely decisions with available information, explain the rationale, and coordinate priority changes with Production and leadership. Own shift-level Compounding downtime risks, including CIP availability, adjustments, transfers, and batch readiness; elevate issues that cannot be resolved within the shift. Select tanks and set pump-out and cleaning priorities to support current and future production needs. Complete beginning-, middle-, and end-of-shift tank audits; identify open tanks and ensure operator follow-up. Use the LX03 report to review portable inventory, contents, expiration dates, and demand when deciding what to retain or clean. Partner with Maintenance/MX on equipment issues and repair priorities; elevate unresolved risks early enough to protect the schedule. Check Pre-Weigh near the start and middle of the shift, follow the 24-hour plan, and address ingredient, staging, or priority risks. Coordinate with Production, Quality, and MX on priority changes, planned work, batch adjustments, holds, and required operator actions. Stop work or production, hold a batch, or initiate rejection when safety, quality, or process conditions require it. Ensure timely Right First Time corrective actions and follow up on batches exceeding expected cycle time. Ensure accurate Compounding SAP transactions, bulk cycle counts, write-offs, and supporting documentation. Prevent bulk additions above batch requirements; document usage variances. Ensure warehouse totes and materials follow the Pre-Weigh depletion process before use; capture bulk-flush quantities and complete SAP write-offs with explanations. Support inventory reconciliation while recognizing shared ownership with Pre-Weigh and department leadership. Lead all work to safety, environmental, quality, GMP, process-control, 5S, housekeeping, and product-identification requirements; stop work when conditions present risk.

What You'll Need to Succeed

High School diploma or GED equvalent Leadership experience in manufacturing, processing, compounding, or a comparable production environment. Demonstrated ability to direct teams, hold employees accountable, coach performance, and conduct difficult conversations professionally. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, including personally verifying conditions before accepting explanations. Ability to prioritize people, batches, tanks, sanitation, and equipment under changing demands while working with limited supervision. Working knowledge of production schedules, batch sequencing, tank management, CIP, pump-outs, and Processing-to-fill-line dependencies. Ability to identify inconsistent reports, recognize inaccurate information, avoidable delays, and performance gaps. Experience with SAP and operating reports preferred, including write-offs, bulk inventory corrections, and status review. Clear communication across shifts and with Production, Pre-Weigh, Quality, Maintenance, Planning, and department leadership. Commitment to safety, GMP, Right First Time, schedule attainment, operational discipline, and team development.
