Compounds batches by following batch record instructions.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- Follows safety rules and regulations.
- Verifies that chemicals, ingredients contained in drums or bags are approved or use on hand prior to starting batches.
- Pre-weighs specified amounts of chemical ingredients and transports items to the designated mixing area.
- Adds ingredients in a specified sequence into mixing vessels using floor pumps, hoses, or by hand.
- Operates mixing vessels to compound ingredients together involving mixing, heating, and cooling operations.
- Monitors the compounding of the product batch throughout the specified steps of the production cycle.
- Checks product batches for temperature as required on the batch record.
- Documents steps in the compounding process on batch records.
- Signs and dates all areas of batch records according to Good Documentation Practices (MWI-195).
- Brings samples to Quality Control for approval. Enters samples into GF-215 computer log.
- Cleans and sanitizes kettles, tanks, utensils, hoses, and all ancillary equipment after.
- Keeps mixers and equipment in good working condition.
- Maintains clean work area.
- Complies with cGMP, EHS guidelines and all working procedures assigned to the position.
- Cooperates with Quality Control or other managers in identifying and correcting any batch quality issues.
- Performs other tasks, as assigned.

Education And/or Experience
High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as tare/net/gross weights, yield percentages, discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Must be able to sufficiently pass internal exam.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
Ability to enter information in an Excel or Word format.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but in some cases can be high and require hearing protection.
Pay Range
The Compounder is a non-exempt position that is paid hourly. Pay rate will be dependent on a number of factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, and experience.
