Job summary

South Mill in Kennett Square, PA is seeking an Assistant Manager to support Phase 1 compost operations, supervise staff, and ensure quality and timely inventories.

This role follows SOPs, monitors compost quality, coordinates safety meetings, and maintains compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; willingness to train in mushroom composting and basic mechanical tasks is valued.

Qualifications

• High School or GED minimum; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Mushroom Phase 1 composting experience preferred, but willing to train.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Basic computer usage with Excel required.
• Professional, positive attitude; adaptable to varied agricultural work; strong organizational, detail-oriented and confidential.
• Valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Follows all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Keeps daily records monitoring compost quality.
• Assists with staff supervision and disciplinary tasks.
• Participates in weekly compost meetings.
• Oversees staff productivity and equipment usage; ensures safety.
• Maintains compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
