Job summary

McLaren Automotive Ltd in Sheffield is recruiting for a production operator with experience in composites and Pre-Preg assembly to join our high-precision manufacturing team.

You will follow validated process cycles, ensure top quality of all composite components, support team leaders, and contribute to training while maintaining a clean, safe workspace.

This role demands attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Background in composites manufacturing with assembly/fitting experience.
  • Experience with pre-preg assembly, hand trimming, adhesives and CNC/robot operation.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and understand materials.

Responsibilities

  • Produce automotive parts from Pre-Preg composites.
  • Adhere to validated cycle times and maintain quality.
  • Support Team Leader with prioritizing work and training others.
  • Keep the work area clean and safe to brand standards.
  • Contribute to process improvements for quality and efficiency.

What to Expect
  • Production of Automotive parts using Pre-Preg composite materials.
  • Adherence to validated process cycle/TAKT times
  • Responsible for maintaining the highest quality standards on all manufactured composites components.
  • Support Team Leader with prioritising work and other activities.
  • Contribute to training and development of other team members.
  • Ensure the work area is clean, tidy and orderly always in line with brand expectations and maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Proactively contributing to develop processes to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Set an example to production operatives.
  • Provide support on all processes in the department.
  • Working to challenging and demanding deadlines.

What You'll Do
Knowledge, Skills And Experience
  • A previous background in composites manufacturing and the associated Assembly/Fitting processes is essential.
  • Pre-preg assembly/fitting experience, including hand trimming parts and experience using various hand tools, CNC/Robot operation, Bonding processes using various adhesives etc.
  • Thorough understanding of composite materials.
  • Experience & understanding of Quality issues.
  • Has developed proficiency in a range of processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on the-job expertise.
  • Must demonstrate previous experience of using their own initiative and work under minimum supervision.
  • Ability to read and draw information from engineering drawings/manuals
  • Have a good knowledge base of materials
