Job summary

McLaren Automotive is seeking a skilled composites operator to produce high‑quality automotive parts using pre‑preg materials. You will follow validated cycle times, trim components, and assist with bonding using various adhesives, while reading engineering drawings for accurate part fabrication.

Work ethic, initiative, and teamwork are essential as you contribute to training, meet tight deadlines, and help improve processes to enhance quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Background in composites manufacturing and assembly/fitting essential.
  • Experience with pre-preg assembly, hand trimming, and bonding.
  • Understand composite materials and quality issues.
  • Ability to read drawings and work under supervision or with initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Produce automotive parts using pre-preg composites and adhere to process cycles.
  • Maintain high quality standards on all composites components.
  • Support team lead with prioritising work and training others.
  • Maintain clean, safe work area and meet demanding deadlines.
  • Contribute to process improvements for quality and efficiency.

What to Expect
Principle Accountabilities
  • Production of Automotive parts using Pre-Preg composite materials.
  • Adherence to validated process cycle/TAKT times
  • Responsible for maintaining the highest quality standards on all manufactured composites components.
  • Support Team Leader with prioritising work and other activities.
  • Contribute to training and development of other team members.
  • Ensure the work area is clean, tidy and orderly always in line with brand expectations and maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Proactively contributing to develop processes to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Set an example to production operatives.
  • Provide support on all processes in the department.
  • Working to challenging and demanding deadlines.
What You'll Do
Knowledge, Skills And Experience
  • A previous background in composites manufacturing and the associated Assembly/Fitting processes is essential.
  • Pre-preg assembly/fitting experience, including hand trimming parts and experience using various hand tools, CNC/Robot operation, Bonding processes using various adhesives etc.
  • Thorough understanding of composite materials.
  • Experience & understanding of Quality issues.
  • Has developed proficiency in a range of processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on the-job expertise.
  • Must demonstrate previous experience of using their own initiative and work under minimum supervision.
  • Ability to read and draw information from engineering drawings/manuals
  • Have a good knowledge base of materials
