Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Commerce, CA seeks a Composites Filament Winding Technician 3 to support the Mission Enabling Products organization. The role covers filament winding operations on tanks, setup, resin mixing, winding and curing, and adherence to drawings and test instructions.

The Mission Enabling Products (MEP) organization is seeking a Composites Filament Winding Technician 3. This position is located in Commerce, CA.

Responsibilities
  • Perform filament winding operations on tanks.
  • Perform filament winding work according to procedures, engineering drawings, and specifications and test instructions.
  • Conduct filament winding including setup, resin mixing, winding and oven curing applications.
  • Program and troubleshoot filament winding machine and software systems.
  • Provide input to engineers/management with respect to needed or recommended changes on wind patterns.
  • Perform all work per engineering drawings, as well as both written and verbal instructions from management and work with engineers to develop composite overwrapped pressure vessels (COPV).
  • Perform product inspection and rework as required.
  • Responsible for the daily cleaning of all winding associated tools and equipment.
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate and 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment setting up and operating machinery such as, filament winding equipment.
  • Experience using standard mechanical measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions.
  • Knowledge of different composite fiber and resin types.
  • Knowledge using filament winding assembly tools and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to review detailed assembly drawings for final assembly of hardware.
  • Ability to use custom tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, meet aggressive schedules, operate and understand engineering drawings.

Primary Level Salary Range: $61,100.00 - $101,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
