Our Aeronautics Systems sector is currently seeking a Composite Bonder level 3 to join our operations team, located in Clearfield, UT, working on a variety of bonds of dissimilar materials (composite, metal, or laminate) assemblies, parts, skins, components, equipment or structures into semi-finished or finished products.

Please note: Only external candidates and NG employees who are not currently aircraft structures mechanics at the Clearfield site will be considered under this requisition.

Position Requirements:

This position requires at least four years of experience working with a complete understanding of the detailed aspects of the job with practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered. The candidate will receive limited supervision with few instructions for routine work and general instructions on new activities or special assignments. May assist in orienting, training, assigning and checking the work of lower-level employees.

What you’ll get to do:

1. Read and interpret blueprints.
2. Lay out articles, cuts parts or materials to size and apply liquid or solid bonding agents.
3. Understanding of ply orientations and vacuum bagging processes.
4. Operates autoclave, hydraulic presses and ovens to complete bonding cycle.
5. Control conditions of heat, pressure, and timing by setting and operating various controls according to the specifications for the materials and the bonding agent being used.
6. Sand, burs and smooth over areas, apply sealing resins to cut or exposed edges.
7. Monitor and verify quality of finished product.
8. Complete repairs on composite, metal or laminate bonded products using inspection and rework instructions. Verifies quality of finished product.

Basic Qualifications:

1. High School diploma or GED with at least 4 years of relatable composite fabrication or bonding experience in manufacturing/production environment.
2. DoD Secret Security Clearance and special program access required to start, but not required to apply.
3. Must be able to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: lifting over 25 pounds, working with chemicals, prolonged overhead work, climbing up and down ladders, prolonged kneeling, bending, or stooping, and carrying tools.
4. Must be able to access small, confined spaces and work in an enclosed environment.
5. Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends.
6. Ability to pass medical/respiratory evaluation in order to obtain and maintain necessary respirator clearance and compliance with all respirator fitting requirements.
7. Must be able to pass a New Hire Physical prior to start.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Completion of AFAB Certification (115- Structures, 120- Composites, 110- Blueprints, 130- Ethics).
2. Experience with hydraulic parts, aircraft fabrication, assemblies, components, and systems in an aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing and/or maintenance environment.
3. Active DoD Secret Clearance with a background investigation completed within the last six years with the ability to obtain program access.
4. Experience with high temperature composite materials including BMI and Polyimide.
5. Experience with structural subassemblies, including bonding, co-bonding, core bonding and bagging.

Salary Range: $24.62 - $41.06

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
